Japanese-era Ohtani cards

These are the earliest cards of him, printed for a different market and still mostly traded there. What you are looking at on a US marketplace is the US resale market for a Japanese card: a real market, and a smaller and thinner one than the domestic market the card was made for.

We keep the two apart everywhere, which means the honest output for these cards is a labelled US-market read or nothing at all. Nothing here is a converted domestic price, and no US price is described as though it were one.

Three habits break in this era: numbering conventions look like typos and are not, one card number can carry two different photographs, and the surname has more than one accepted romanisation, so a search on one spelling is not a search of the market. The Japanese-era guide covers all three.
