How a card clears the bar
Two independent gates, both required. The card gate asks whether this is a card worth owning at conviction: a curator has to have rated the identity, it has to sit in the core or collector markets — the 2018 rookies, the rookie-era certified autos, the Japanese issues and milestone cards — and it has to score 80+ on card quality. A discount is never the missing input there; a curator is.
The value gate asks whether the price is actually wrong: at least 20% below a fair value built from sales we witnessed (15% when a curator has called the card iconic or high), on confirmed evidence at medium confidence or better. Asking prices are never comps. A modeled value can never mint a buy at any discount, and a card nobody has sold recently cannot pass however cheap it looks.
Every score on a card is an ordering, not a probability. There is no backtest here and no outcome data to calibrate one, so a score says where a card sits among the cards on this board today — a statement you can check by scrolling. When we do not know a number we leave it blank rather than estimating over the gap.
