Thousands of Ohtani listings are live at any moment, and the tools around them each hold one piece of the answer. Price guides tell you what a card class sold for. Checklists tell you what exists. Marketplaces tell you what is listed. None of them will tell you whether the copy in front of you — this year, this product, this card number, this parallel, this price — is the one to buy today.

Shohei Index resolves which exact card a listing is, prices it against confirmed sales of that same card, and shows its work.

An index is a way of ordering things that already exist, not a claim to own them. This site is independent of the player, the leagues and the manufacturers, and it says so on every page. It is also not a mechanism: this tool places no bids, makes no automated offers, and does nothing in the closing seconds of an auction. It reads the market and hands you the decision.

What sits behind every verdict is three checks, every time:

• The era. A Japanese issue, a pre-rookie card, a rookie-year card, a printed moment and a modern flagship base are five different markets — which one is this, and do its comps come from the same one?
• The card. Exact identity from checklist-grade rules: year, product, card number, photo variation, parallel, serial run, and whether an autograph came out of a pack. A seller's title never establishes what a card is here.
• The price. Asking prices are never comps. Fair value comes from confirmed sales of the exact card — matched on parallel, print run and grade — or it is labeled a model estimate, or it is not shown at all.

Only when all three line up does a listing rank as an opportunity — and when nothing clears the bar, the Radar says so instead of filling itself.
